We have no borders!

WE DID IT AGAIN! ?❤️
In 2020, we started with just two schools — Otemon Otemae, Japan, and SMJK Chung Hwa Tenom, Malaysia.
Five years later, we are still going strong.
And today, looking at all those faces on the screen, I couldn't help but feel incredibly grateful for how far we have come.
We meet monthly. We share, we learn, we experiment, and sometimes, we get confused together. ?
We don't always understand one another perfectly. Sometimes there are misunderstandings, differences in expectations, communication styles and ways of working.
But perhaps that is exactly where the beauty of a global learning community lies.
I have learned so much from the dedication and effort of our Indonesian friends, the confidence and English fluency of our Filipino friends, the thoughtful structure and careful preparation of our Japanese friends, and the wonderfully santai nature of us Malaysians. ?
And when we come together, we learn to adapt.
We learn to listen a little more carefully, to be a little more patient, to appreciate differences instead of expecting everyone to work the same way.
That, to me, is global citizenship in action.
Today, our international student innovation conference brought together young minds who shared their ideas, creations and hopes for making the world a little better.
And what made me especially happy?
❤️ Four of our alumni returned to emcee and facilitate the conference.
❤️ Our judging panel included teachers and even an alumnus who is now working in the industry.
❤️ A university student alumnus returned to share how his experiences in innovation and robotics continue to shape his life.
❤️ A technology company director and developer joined us to share the value of innovation.
❤️ Students from different countries presented their creations, listened to one another and discovered different ways of thinking.
And the messages that came after the conference touched me deeply.
One alumnus shared how moved he was to see that this community was still growing years after his own participation. He wanted to return again.
Our friends and judges spoke about how much they themselves had learned from the students.
Isn't that beautiful?
When former students return to contribute, when teachers become learners, and when young people begin inspiring adults, we know something meaningful is growing.
This is not just another programme.
It is not simply about robotics, STEAM, innovation or winning awards.
It is about nurturing future citizens who are more intentional about what they create, more thoughtful about whom their innovations serve, and more willing to understand people beyond their own borders.
It is about creating a space where students can discover possibilities they may never have imagined for themselves.
And perhaps, years from now, they will look back and realise that something they experienced in this little international community helped shape who they became.
How much more do we need?
Nothing fancy, really.
Just people who believe in the same dream, who are willing to show up, to contribute, to learn, and to keep the community alive.
We are coming together to realise a dream.
And my dream has always been a simple one.
That every child we work with will one day discover a dream worth pursuing, find the courage and opportunities to pursue it, and eventually make that dream come true. ❤️
To every teacher, student, alumnus, judge, speaker and friend who has been part of this journey since 2020 — thank you.
We may come from different countries, speak different languages and see the world differently.
But we are growing together.
And that is something worth celebrating.
Not just connecting countries. Connecting people, possibilities and futures. ???
